Linifício Leslie

Company

Linifício Leslie was founded in 1951 by Ezra Leslie Schama. The mill was built to weave linen fabrics for men’s shirtings and suits. In 1966 coarser dry spun yarns started to be produced to weave fabrics for the decorative market. By 1967 a first collection was exported to the United States with enormous success. Since then our exports have kept growing and Linifício Leslie became a reliable source of linen fabrics for more than 30 countries.

At first, the yarns were imported from France and woven and finished in our premises. A few years later (1958) spinning machinery was bought and set up and flax was grown in the high and cool areas in the south of Brazil. Today all our flax is imported from France and Belgium. Once in Rio the fibre is spun into fine, medium and coarser yarns. Some are dyed, others are twisted and woven, finished and delivered to clients around the world.
